Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc

Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc
By. Room Full of Blerds

I love Demon Slayer. I mean LOOOOOVE it.

I didn’t realize that until I was treated to the theatrical l premier of the first episode of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training arc. Recently started reading the manga to understand how readers feel versus anime watchers.

It’s the color, the movement and the expressions that make this series so much more intense. Yes, the manga readers have a head start. But ultimately the anime wins, which is something that Western films have yet to crack when it comes to translating books into film.

Spoiler alert from here on out!

We have a quick recap of the Sword Smith village arc season finale. I still held my breath pretty much from when Tanjiro missteps while chasing that upper-rank demon until Nezuko walked in the sun! A few extra scenes were added that were a nice touch and gave the episode a more cohesive ending.

In the opening scene of the first episode of the Hashira Training Arc. We leave the bright finale and are thrown back into darkness.  There is a chase with the Wind and Serpent Hashiras that lets you know they are about their business!

The Wind Hashira…. even more so. The chase ends with a glimpse inside Infinity Castle and from there the ongoing theme seems to be “Where is this going” or “How did no one tell us about this?”. There are long-awaited reunions, unthought-of reveals, and the beginning of a foolish rebellion.

I was on the fence about finishing the manga but after watching this first episode, I will continue reading. I’m eager to see where the story is going but I also want to be surprised by their choices when animating those pages.

Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc will be released in the U.S. in the spring of 2024.
